BLAB #3 – Holidays, Movies, Gifts & Miss Universe
This discussion was all about the holiday, movies, relationships and some prominent current events in the media. Read on to watch the full #BLAB session.
What Is Your Favorite Holiday Movie?
The conversation started with our favorite holiday movies and must-see flicks during our Christmas breaks. Beth has a few favorites that include Elf, The Preachers Wife and Christmas Story. Tara is a hands-down Love Actually fan, she has seen is several times and has it on DVD if you’d like to borrow it. Jacque prefers the classic Home Alone but also thought the second one was pretty decent. Overall, the crowd favorite was ‘National Lampoons Christmas Vacation’ – has anyone seen it? What’s your favorite holiday film?
Shows We Are Binge Watching
Next, the ladies talked all about shows we are binge watching right now. The ladies shared their current binge which included: The Game of Thrones for Beth, Transparent for Tara and Board Walk Empire was Jacque’s pick. The two crowd favorites are Once Upon A Time and Master of None if you are looking for other great shows to binge on this holiday season.
Joe Anderson’s: STARVING For Success Sign
Since the holidays are truly a magical time, next the ladies discussed the image that Joe Anderson posted on Instagram begging to be noticed by an NFL team as he was holding a sign outside the Texans stadium that said: “Not hungry, but STARVING for success.” Anderson has since been signed to the Jets’ practice squad. This conversation was all about courage, perseverance, power of social media. Would you have the guts to go out there and do something like this? The ladies love Joe Anderson – how could they not? Speaking of which we want to know, what is your favorite part of a man?
Do You Agree? “It’s when men are just about to fall asleep and women want to talk.”
Since they were on the topic of the holiday season, Tara brought up an article she read Huffington Post titled What Can We Learn From Men In Therapy? The article brings up communication in intimate relationships and the best way to start and maintain a conversation that isn’t just about your day-to-day shenanigans. Could the often relatable fact that men want to sleep and women want to talk lead to an epidemic of sleep-deprived couples lacking adequate communication. The ladies discuss that as a result, sex is often less frequent than one or both partners would like, and feeling “tired” (not enough sleep) or “disconnected” (not enough pillow talk) are common explanations. Long story short, what do men want for Christmas? Women to stop asking to talk at bedtime? Tell us what you think!
Where Will Miss Colombia Go From Here?
Finally, speaking of communication issues, the ladies HAD to discuss this week’s worldwide controversy of announcing the Miss Universe crown. After alleged miscommunication, the crown was accidentally given to Miss Colombia (not the Miss Universe winner) before crowning Miss Philippines, the Miss Universe Winner. The hosts of Words, Wine and Women agreed that both Miss Columbia and Miss Philippines took the situation in a very mature manner but that Miss Philippines win was unfortunately a bit overshadowed by the entire mix-up. They all agreed that Miss Colombia seemed very strong after the event but this LIVE mistake that occurred on international television was a huge fumble in the world of beauty pageants. Maybe this wasn’t the year of the pageant or beauty pageants in general, but either way both Miss Universe contestants will going to be known in the coming years because of this monumental incident.
